[UPDATED: 4/2/2106 – FATE eye poser HUD]
The first installment of our guides/tutorials involves some helpful tools that we use for doing photographs/posing in Second Life. These are by no means ALL of the tools that are out there, they are however the ones we use most often here at Mask and Mien. I’ll go through a brief explanation of each one’s capabilities and my personal experience with them. I highly recommend all of them.
This handy little HUD has saved me more times then I can count. It saves your camera angles, so in the event of a crash (which always seems to happen to me at the worst time) you can go right back to that awesome angle you had lined up. For only L$199 it’s well worth it’s price.
It saves angles based on the region you’re in so you can have multiple angles for different regions. Keep in mind that with it being region based the angles will only load in that region. You can easily manage all of the angles from the menu, allowing you to rename them, list all of them, and delete specific angles or entire regions. I highly recommend it to anyone who crashes, and I would guess most of us do, it’s my number one tool of the trade.
Where to find it: SL Marketplace or Inworld
Price: L$199 Continue reading
Well, actually this is my brother Lucky; the shoes are named Mae.😀
Ahhh, much better!
So maybe there’s a bit of a disconnect between what Lucky is wearing and what I’ve chosen for this pic. If you’re looking at our feet, sure, the shoes don’t really match (but aren’t they FANTASTIC?!). What I find interesting, though, is scrolling up, you can see that we aren’t mismatched either. We coordinated colours and accessories to make this shot just a little more cohesive. Life is like that, too; sometimes you can’t line things up exactly but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. Use what you’ve got. Love what you have.
I know for a fact that Lucky is going to rave about his sweater-bowtie-vest-thinger in HIS blog post so I’ll just tell you about what I’m wearing today. Deal? Continue reading
If your quiz results tended to be D’s, you’re probably a Pastel Princess! Hooray!
( A prettier, shinier, BIGGER picture on my flickr.❤ )
Mostly D’s – The Pastel Princess
You are a hopeless romantic, sweet and caring, with a love of silk and sparkle. Gold, silver, jewels .. you use them to good effect in a way that practically screams “dance with me!”
You love skirts, dresses, and leap at the opportunity to go dancing. You probably own a tiara and at least one pair of fairy wings, even if you never wear them out.
If your quiz results were mostly F’s, you may want to look at this:

Mostly F’s – The Silver Screen Starlet
There was a time, not too long ago, when men wore fedoras and trenchcoats. Women wore jewels and heels and skirts. Things were made with better materials, lasted longer, and somehow also cost less. You are a throwback to those times.
Your clothes are feminine without being girly. You ooze sensuality without being overtly sexy. You have truly excellent underwear.
Blogging isn’t easy.
I’m not writing this post to complain, far from it, but I would like to highlight the amount of work stylists undertake when putting an outfit together. Blogging said outfits is another challenge (but gosh, I love it) because the purpose is to highlight clothing in a specific, and often individual, fashion. The blog posts we love best seem effortless and perfect; it looks like a snapshot right out of someone’s second life. In truth, I’m certain that it’s the result of hours of work from beginning to end and I appreciate this process SO much. Behind every blogger, you’ll likely find a thorough and thoughtful individual who is just in love with SL fashion and wants to share this fascination with the world. Like me.
So this is the first installment of what I’m calling my “Stylin’ Ain’t Easy” tribute to SL blogging. It’s not definitive but it is a peek at how I operate. The first step for me is what I have named my BB-0 (Beauty Base Zero); it’s a term I’ve pillaged from book two of The Hunger Games trilogy because the concept was dead on. It’s where you start, imagining your nails are perfect, your hair is tied back and you’re staring into a mirror, or your closet, wondering what the heck you’re going to wear today. Continue reading
Maybe I’m just tired this weekend, but the idea of lounging around in sock feet, undies, and a comfortable cami was simply too heavenly to resist. In this picture you can see Truth’s new Leticia hair (lovely, lovely) and no, you won’t get to see any more of my underwear than this. I promise they’re very pretty, though, as is everything from *BOOM*.😀

I prefer happy sunshiney yellows, thanks.
Honestly, I was having a bit of a day today. Rough morning, long afternoon, and my night was not going the way I wanted it to go; one might go so far as to say that I was moody, even vaguely upset.
adjective, mood·i·er, mood·i·est.
1. given to gloomy, depressed, or sullen moods; ill-humored.
2. proceeding from or showing such a mood: a moody silence.
3. expressing or exhibiting sharply varying moods; temperamental.
Then I signed into SL and my day got just a little brighter!
Have you ever put something together that just made you smile? Just a plain, pure, happy grin?
I think these Boudoir red shoes were the first pair of SL heels that I truly fell in love with – I’ll show them off better in a later post, I’m sure, but it should suffice to say that, of the hundreds of articles in my clothing folder, they are still one of my favourite things to wear. Sissy Pessoa is another designer I enjoy and need to wear more often; I loveloveLOVE this dress! WOO! Continue reading
