Sophia’s Mean Reds

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Sophia Shine L 600 (A larger shot, just for you dahling. )

Okay, so I know this isn’t the first time I’ve quoted Breakfast at Tiffany’s here, and it certainly won’t be the last, but when I was composing this look (oh, I don’t know, about a week and a half ago *sigh*) I was feeling some of those ‘mean reds’ myself. Life gets overwhelming on occasion, everyone knows that, and sometimes all you can do is go to Tiffany’s or, you know, haul buns over to the Gos Boutique to look at some new shoes. Why not swing over to the Designer Showcase  to pick up shine by [ZD]‘s new mesh outfit while you’re at it and certainly, certainly treat yourself to the gorgeous new LeLutka hair, some jewelry from Paper Couture, and lovely, lovely makeup from cheLLe.

It’s called ‘retail therapy’ for a reason, right? Continue reading

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

WOOOO!!!

So this post is a little late (what else is new? :D) but I’d like to wish you the very, very best in 2013. I hope your holidays went beautifully and that you spent a wonderful time with friends and family. I hope you gave every gift you wanted to share and received thoughtful gifts in turn. I hope you danced on New Year’s Eve, or at least watched the fireworks.

I hope you’re smiling now.🙂

Be happy, honey, because this is going to be a fantastic year. Have hope. Look forward.

The Pastel Princess

If your quiz results tended to be D’s, you’re probably a Pastel Princess! Hooray!

Mostly D’s – The Pastel Princess

You are a hopeless romantic, sweet and caring, with a love of silk and sparkle. Gold, silver, jewels .. you use them to good effect in a way that practically screams “dance with me!”

You love skirts, dresses, and leap at the opportunity to go dancing. You probably own a tiara and at least one pair of fairy wings, even if you never wear them out.

“Olive Shine!”

Do you know the thing I love (olive) most about shine?

Sure, I’ve covered the brand before; Cecilia and I are friends; the clothes are fantastic and fun to wear but the more I think about it, I’m realizing that so many of my favourite outfits of this year have at least one piece of shine in them.  What I’m noticing now (and yes, I know I’ve been wearing these clothes for months) is how well these pieces work with my existing wardrobe but they do it in such a way that everything feels new.

Olive You L 600 ( Standing in front of shine’s NEW mainstore! )

This outfit, for example, came together when I decided to showcase shine‘s new slim mesh jacket; since it’s so close-fitting I wanted to work with system pants over mesh and since it’s on the dressy side (hello, there’s a brooch attached to it!) it needed to have some sort of flair as well. Today!

Working Title: Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Tomorrow Today

First of all, I’m sure you can see why I went with a simpler title but let me explain:

It was always my intention to cover the Tomorrow Today event in installments; it’s the easiest thing in the world to promote a new event because most everyone has heard about it, been waiting for it, and are excited to see fantastic new offerings especially when proceeds are donated to a worthwhile cause. The thing with Second Life, though, is that time is a little skewed. Many things happen on a daily basis and the more time we spend here, the fuller every day seems to be. It’s easy to say “hey, I really love this __________, but I’ll just come back for it later. I won’t forget.

Sometimes we forget. We’re human. We err.

I was supposed to write this post yesterday under the borderline-creative-and-cheeky title “Tomorrow’s Tomorrow Today” but .. again, I’m as human as anyone. I didn’t get to it. Ugh. Continue reading

Yesterday’s Tomorrow Today

Or was it the day before yesterday? Or maybe the day before that?

Suffice it to say, I have been siiiiiiick for quite a few days and, unlike my sweetheart of a sisser Cady (gorgeous new posts on her blog, btw), I have a hard time focusing on prettiness when I feel anything but.

I wanted so badly to start covering the Tomorrow Today event as soon as it was open to the public; I took these pictures on Oct 31st but .. ugh. Editing just wasn’t happening until this morning. Anyway, the event will be running through the end of November and is a fundraiser to support our very own Matchbook Monday (designer of Amorous jewelry <3).

A bit of info:

This event is to raise funds for a dental surgery procedure that will greatly improve Ms. Monday’s quality of life. The full details can be found on her blog here so please read her very moving letter and drop by the sim for your beginning-of-month shopping. Every little bit helps. Continue reading

Of all the dresses ..

.. in all the shops in all of the SL events right now .. the CadyLady and I bought the EXACT SAME ONE. At Cinema.

Crazy, right? But really .. would you have been able to resist the Volstead ‘Liason’ in honey? This lacy, silky, sheer chemise (if you aren’t wearing the glitch layers) left me speechless the second I tried it on. I’m still having trouble drumming up the words to describe how much I love this piece. Just .. go to Cinema and pick up the demo so you can throw me a line, here.

Okay?

Thanks.

To Be Free

So it’s no real secret that I’m loving the boho and as we move through autumn and into winter, I’m really hoping to see more fun patterns and layers to mix and match. This is what the bohemian style is really about, as far as I’m concerned; it’s the freedom to wear what you like best, to find something (or a bunch of things) that suit you and bring a smile to your face.🙂 See?
