<3 As You Wish <3

I realize that it’s been a pretty big day for blogging today and for those of you who have caught each of my posts in the last twenty for hours and NOT lost your marbles entirely – THANK YOU!

It’s been such a busy month (yes, I know I say this all the time but hey, I’m a busy girl!) and I STILL have one more post I want to get out today after this one. Your patience is greatly appreciated

Lord And Lady

So this post is going to be short and very sweet and, really, sandwiched between two pictures of my man Lucky and myself, how could it not be? Continue reading

A Life Indoors ~ Speaking Out About Going Outside

“Never give up on someone with a mental illness. When “I” is replaced by “We”, illness becomes wellness.”
Shannon L. Alder

Indoors 3072.png

Disclaimer: This is going to be a bit of a heavier post than I’m used to writing. For those of you uncomfortable with the idea of reading about anxiety and mental illness, I understand. Truly. It’s a difficult subject. You don’t need to read any more than this paragraph – credits are at the bottom.❤

I realized today just how long it’s been since the last time I wrote about anxiety. Years, really, and as much as I would like to say that it’s because I am completely out of the woods, that really isn’t the case. I’ve written about my condition prior to this (here and here) and hinted at it from time to time as well. I am not ashamed of my illness and I don’t believe anyone should ever worry that speaking out about who they are, as long as it does no harm, nor should they be judged or shunned for their personal life. If I don’t discuss mental disorder often, it’s because my anxiety has become just another fact of life. I am a Canadian woman. I have green eyes and a nice smile. I live with chronic anxiety, agoraphobia, and hypersensitivity.

Not a single one of these traits defines who I am but they do contribute to the sum of their parts. I don’t rail against my agoraphobia anymore, just like I don’t hate the fact that my hair is too straight to curl – I work with it. I do the best I can with what I have and believe me, the work never ends. It’s hard to be happy on a consistent basis but I don’t think I’m alone in that either. Most people have a hard time being happy. Everybody struggles with something.

Let me tell you about my struggles, though. Maybe it will help with yours. Continue reading

Fantasy Styling ~ Moon Maiden (We <3 RP and Collabor88)

Sometimes, I swear, half the fun of styling fantasy clothing is going just a little bit over the top with jewellery (which you know I love) and stepping just far enough outside of our comfort zones to do something that is both totally like and unlike ourselves. This is the fun part of Mask and Mien and a big part of what the blog theme means to me. Everything here, in one way or another, represents a large part of my loves, likes, wants, and needs. Why buy a thing if you don’t like it, right?

The point, and I promise I’m getting to one, is that fantasy allows us to play. To imagine and exercise some creativity in our Second Lives!  Of course this goes double for photography.😀

A Triumphant Return?

Can you believe that it’s been nearly four months since my last post?

I really can’t, honestly, but I suppose the fact that it took me five minutes and umpteen attempts to access my wordpress account can attest to the dry spell. I’ve missed blogging, missed sharing my thoughts and some of the many outfits I put together throughout my time in Second Life. No doubt some of you know that it’s been a busy time for me; my nephew is HUGE now (proud auntie pictures on my flickr page) and nearly seven months old! I’ve moved from my tiny apartment to a much-less-tiny townhouse across town and I’m loving all the extra space (and a computer in my bedroom, thank you very much!). With Thanksgiving approaching, I’m looking forward to cooking a massive meal for my family and having enough actual counter space to do it. Do you remember my post about Awesome Breed Creations (ABC) Horses? I’m working for them now as their official Clerk of Course, which means practically nothing to you, I’m sure, but it’s a marvelous honour. If you’re interested in racing horses in SL (or waiting for jousting events to begin like the rest of us), you should come check us out sometime.🙂

Okay, okay. “ENOUGH!” you say.  Shall we talk about clothes?

“What was that, meow?”

That’s RIGHT!

Our favourite cobbler Gos made his first official donation to the PDSA this week! The total was a staggering £1553.14 (around $2364), all earmarked to care for the pets of people in need by providing free veterinary services to their sick and injured animals as well as to promote responsible pet ownership.

Truth and Longing

Writer’s block: DEMOLISHED!

Well, mostly.

If you’re just tuning in now, you might have missed my newest blogger challenge! Yes, I was having a hard time putting words to (metaphorical) paper and I’ve noticed that the longer you put writing to one side, the harder it is to start up again.  Hence the challenge to just post something, already!

Feeling similarly stoppered up? Give it a try!

Raw Truth 600( The Truth.)

I hope you’ve heard by now that our beloved Sea Hole is closing. Like me, you might have wondered why a star brand at Collabor88 was missing, only to sigh, nod sadly, and sulk over the news for days. Whether you made it to the mainstore right away or not, whether you bought half the store in one fell swoop (like me) or resolved to get a few things, only to find you absolutely NEEDED the entire store afterwards (also like me), it is my sincere hope that you have done everything in your power to send this incredible designer out with a bang (and all of your L$). Drinkenstein Sorbet, you will be missed! Continue reading

Sophia’s Mean Reds

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Sophia Shine L 600 (A larger shot, just for you dahling. )

Okay, so I know this isn’t the first time I’ve quoted Breakfast at Tiffany’s here, and it certainly won’t be the last, but when I was composing this look (oh, I don’t know, about a week and a half ago *sigh*) I was feeling some of those ‘mean reds’ myself. Life gets overwhelming on occasion, everyone knows that, and sometimes all you can do is go to Tiffany’s or, you know, haul buns over to the Gos Boutique to look at some new shoes. Why not swing over to the Designer Showcase  to pick up shine by [ZD]‘s new mesh outfit while you’re at it and certainly, certainly treat yourself to the gorgeous new LeLutka hair, some jewelry from Paper Couture, and lovely, lovely makeup from cheLLe.

It’s called ‘retail therapy’ for a reason, right? Continue reading

Grey’s The Way!

“People think that everyone wears black in France; in fact they all wear grey.”
~ Jean Paul Gaultier

So, again, this is a post that got away from me. I had plans; everything was set in my mind, plotted to the last alpha layer. I was going to photograph shine’s Grey Collection in monochrome with vivid colour accents: bright red lips, stunning aquamarine eyes, verdant green foliage, and bold yellow gloves (you know how I love to play with gloves). When I signed in this morning, though, things came together differently.

I just love when outfits evolve on their own!

Grey Collection 1 600 ( This outfit is pure ‘shine;’ simple, comfortable, and still pretty stylish! )

Something you will notice, however, is that I kept each outfit very simple; after a month of shimmer, sparkle, and bright colour, it was refreshing to change gears this way. To ’embrace the grey,’ as it were. Continue reading
