Who’s the King of the Castle and Who’s the Dirty Rascal?

King of the Castle

This is an idea that I’ve been cooking up for a couple of days and I WISH it could have come in as a We❤ Role Play (We❤ RP) preview post! Sometimes life gets in the way, though, and what with being sick yesterday and today is my nephew’s third birthday (AAHHH!! <3), there just wasn’t time to get to posting until tonight. As you might be able to tell from the theme of the pictures below, Lucky and I are both in an aggressive headspace at the moment but don’t worry, we try to use our powers for good.😉

Today marks the opening of the newest round of We❤ RP and I KNOW that I say this every time but WOW! There’s a veritable TON of great items available, many of which will find their way onto Mask and Mien over the next few weeks (I already have four more posts in mind, styled up and ready to go). The Simple Sophisticate

If your quiz results were mostly G’s, you’re very likey a Simple Sophisticate!

Mostly G’s – The Simple Sophisticate

Style is a simple way of saying complicated things and you know this better than most. What sets you apart from the others is your ability to know where you’re going, what you’ll be doing, and dress accordingly. Costume party? Check. Ballroom dancing? Check. Bumming around the house in pj’s? Double check!

You are the owner of a truly magical inventory and everything you wear reflects this. You love fashion, no doubt, and everything you wear is planned before you leave your equally-gorgeous home. You have more clothes than anyone you know.

From Dark to Light

Today is a day of firsts for me. In my earlier post, I shared the first tattoo I’ve worn here (that you’ve seen😉 ) and now, well, have a look!

I’m kind of psyched to be sharing these outfits, as well as these new pictures, with you; I’ve been working harder than ever on this blog, challenging myself to try different things, to accessorize more, and generally add more interest to everything I do. Maybe I’ve never worn a corset before (and that’s saying something as a three-year SL resident) but after some careful consideration as I put these outfits together I’ve come to realize .. I really like them!

And even better? Every outfit piece I’m using in this post (aside from the goooorgeous .:NV . corsets, foil eye makeup from League, and a pair of gacha earrings from The Arcade) has been in my inventory for weeks, months, or in a few cases, years! Maybe you won’t be able to duplicate these outfits exactly (who’d want to do that, anyway?), but the concept of reinventing yourself with what you have is especially helpful this time of year. Blogger Challenge: What’s Your Beauty Base Zero? (Part One ~ Stylin’ Ain’t Easy)

Blogging isn’t easy.

I’m not writing this post to complain, far from it, but I would like to highlight the amount of work stylists undertake when putting an outfit together. Blogging said outfits is another challenge (but gosh, I love it) because the purpose is to highlight clothing in a specific, and often individual, fashion. The blog posts we love best seem effortless and perfect; it looks like a snapshot right out of someone’s second life. In truth, I’m certain that it’s the result of hours of work from beginning to end and I appreciate this process SO much. Behind every blogger, you’ll likely find a thorough and thoughtful individual who is just in love with SL fashion and wants to share this fascination with the world. Like me.🙂

So this is the first installment of what I’m calling my “Stylin’ Ain’t Easy” tribute to SL blogging. It’s not definitive but it is a peek at how I operate. The first step for me is what I have named my BB-0 (Beauty Base Zero); it’s a term I’ve pillaged from book two of The Hunger Games trilogy because the concept was dead on. It’s where you start, imagining your nails are perfect, your hair is tied back and you’re staring into a mirror, or your closet, wondering what the heck you’re going to wear today. Continue reading

Check @ the FAIR!

Hello everyone!

I’d like to begin today by thanking my SL sister, the incredible Bean, for inspiring this post by dragging (okay, maybe not entirely dragging) me to the last installment of FAIR last week (😦 ) and pointing me toward these beautiful mesh gowns by Apple May Designs. I’m not sure what other people thought when they saw red and white side by side but my mind went IMMEDIATELY to Wonderland.

Confessions of a Former Band Geek

Music is my solace. Harmony, my heart. Certain chord progressions make me weak, or enraged, or giddy, or .. anything, really, because at a very basic level, music is feeling. It sinks into you, sometimes, and becomes part of who you are and how you see the world.

What I’m trying to say here, I suppose, is that there are some songs that you never forget or, specifically, that I will never forget. When other girls were listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Destiny’s Child, I’m slightly embarassed to admit that I spent my high school years obsessing over Dmitri Shostakovich’s fourth ballet suite and, of course, I knew every note in the Phantom of the Opera. One of my favourite CDs of all time, though, was Colm Wilkinson’s Stage Heroes, and the first track on THAT was his version of ‘I, Don Quixote.’

Listen to it sometime – you won’t regret it.

Now. The point of this confession is to provide a bit of context when I say that .. I am absolutely in LOVE with Chop Zuey‘s new Don Quixote Collection!

(Phew, that was a lot of text. Bring on the pictures!) Continue reading

Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’!

Wow, okay, so I’m on a roll again! This is .. *counts* .. my SEVENTH post in a week and I hope you’re having as much fun reading my blog as I am writing and sharing some of my favourite fashion finds with you.

It’s probably pretty clear that I’m on a {mon tissu} kick right now (how not, with the Mon Tissu Blogger Search in full swing) but statistically it was bound to happen anyway. As anyone who knows me and sees me more than once a week knows, I wear this label ALL the time and today’s fantastic slouchy sweatshirt is no exception. I rarely wear black but when I do, I love dressing it up with metallic accents (like the Amorous Luna belt and these rocking accessories from MANDALA) – bonus points are also awarded for contrasting textures like velour, lace, and leather.

Something I read in Caoimhe Lionheart’s blog the other day absolutely struck a chord with me. For brevity’s sake, I’ll just go ahead and paste it at you: Continue reading
